comments = I have enjoyed this so much, and have found so many things we have in common. I have 4 children, and long to find time for everything too. My son used to ask me, as I sat by his bed, "Mommy ,read me a story without a book!" As a result we have created a few stories. I have always had a talent in Art and have been dubbed the "church artist" and am called on frequently. I'm happy to serve and am secretly Thrilled with my little bit of fame! I'm marking your site on my Favorites list. I'll use it to study by! I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I'm sure I'll reach my goals soon. And your site gives me the jump start I need. God has helped me so much so I appriciate your strength of Faith. He answered my prayer when my second child was born and I had to find a way to help our family finacially. I told God that I knew I needed to be home to raise my babies, and yet we were in need of help with the bills. I asked him to help me find a way to help and still do the right thing for my children. He heard me, and 2 weeks later , I learned how to draw caricatures and started makeing a little $ at craft fairs and Comp. picnics! It's really been wonderful and I've been able to stay home with my kids now for 10 yrs! Well God Bless You and I'll be back!

How did you find this site? = Surfing VENTRILOQUISM
comments = Kimn, This is a beautiful and inspiring site. I read the quotes first and felt "she must be a Christian" -- then I recognized bits & pieces from Free Methodist sources which is the church where I cemented my relationship with the Lord after a 1973 Bill Graham Crusade.

These days I'm starting to build a speaking career - and hoping to "hit the road" this fall. God called me to be an encourager, and a bearer of His message...and that I can't stop putting it off any longer. So..your page was just what I needed. I learned about a Christian Vent/Puppet college in Illinois the first week in August, so I want to see if this, ventriloquism, can be added to the already neat things God has given me. I don't sing...I'm not an actress...but I speak quite well and just want to do crazy things for God for the end result in saving souls. That's most important to me...seeing God's kids, of all ages, come to fellowship with His Son.

Please check out my website. If this is in God's plan I'm going to be in the market for a huge purple turtle vent!

God bless you in your further ministry as writer, homemaker, mother, wife...

My quote: Dear God, The little plans I tried to carry through have failed. I will not sorrow. I'll rest a little while, Dear God, and try again tomorrow. - John Fico.
My scripture: How great is the Love that the father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God--and that is what we are." 1 John 3:1

comments = Kimn, I really believe the Lord meant for me to find your website. I really enjoyed reading some of your articles, especially the devotionals. I have been writing for some time and have had some success selling fillers. It's been amazing to me as a parent the analogies the Lord has pointed out to me in my relationship with Him and in my relationship with my two children. I have several other "analogy devotionals" brewing in my mind. I just need to sit down and type them. Coming across your website has encouraged me to keep putting my thoughts down because I realize that God can use them as a source of encouragement in other people's lives. That is a very humbling and convicting thought.

Enjoyed meeting you and your family, love your personal testimony, kudos for homeschooling, we lost a lovable huggable Rottweiler to cancer a couple years ago so can identify with your loss of Isaac, read "Why We Need Each Other" and you have a grand writing style, and my favorite verse is Psa. 118:24 (This is the day the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it) 'Twas my dad's favorite and I adopted it! Today, here in Upstate NY, my favorite quote is one of Helen Castle's, "If Noah had been truly wise, he would have swatted those two flies!" My favorite quote changes with circumstances. Have you ever seen the book MOMMY, WHERE ARE YOU? by Kathi Mills? Great for would-be moms, toying with staying home vs. working outside. I think it's out of print, but I bought all I could get from Choice Books and give one to every one who might read and relish it. Visited your lovely Seattle a couple years ago. comments = Dear Kimn,
Just wanted to say I was pleased and gratified to see that you'd included our competition, the Dana Awards, on your site. Now, after reading your bio, publications and awards, I see why you wrote "Sorry" about our restrictions against writing for/by young adults--since those are special areas of interest for you. If we ever expand our categories beyond 4 (although 4 are barely manageable), I have considered categories for juvenile/young adult writing.
Thanks again for listing us on your site. (Feel free to list our url (above) if you note us next year. All info should be the same except the postmark deadline date will shift slightly, to its normal date, October 31 (this year the 31st falls on a Sunday).
Your site provides a fine service for writers, and I'm sure takes time to cull (I think I noted several of the same listings INKLINGS carries??)
Best of luck in all your MANY writing projects.

Actually, now that I sense you are a Christian, I finished a short story (2500 words)with a Christian message. The story themes around a man (my brother-in-law), who wants/needs to quit drinking, but his working bud's continually snare him "for a few more." My short story, THE RABBIT EARS LISTENED, lends "Larry" their ears. Actually, they are a pair of granite peaks located 10 miles from where I work! Have any suggestions as to where to pitch my short work?

Thanks also for sharing contest info on the write4kids message board. I feel like I know you now (before, I just Cyber-knew you)!
Let's see; you ask for my favorite scripture. I have so many favorites, it's hard to choose. I love:
James 1:2,3 "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance." (I must continually remind myself of this :) )
2Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline."
Romans 8:1 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
and my favorite... Psalm 32:7 "Thou art my hiding place; Thou dost preserve me from trouble; Thou dost surround me with songs of deliverance."
When I was diagnosed with cancer, 5 years ago, I had no recollection of this verse. God was my hiding place then, but I was amazed to realize that God's praises were continually in my thoughts in the form of praise songs. I almost heard them with my ears and sang them often as a result. I believe now that He was surrounding me with His songs of deliverance. BTW, I'm fine now.

I went through all the courses of a meal telling what we would talk about during each course, The company has some interesting topics. Have you tried you luck yet, Kimm?????????

My favorite scripture would be very hard to say: so many great things were said by our Lord and those who wrote the Bible. I guess the two I live by are: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and Cast your bread upon the water and it will come back two-fold -- trying every day to get that last one into my kids' heads, translated as: Do bad; get bad -- Do good; get good. SO BE GOOD.
All the best, Joy

If you think you you are beaten you are
If you think you dare not,you don't
If you'd like to win, but think you can't
It's almost certain you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you've lost
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellows will-
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are
You've got to think high to rise
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Lifes battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the one who THINKS he can.

comments = Dear Kimn,
I am from Strawberry Point, a town about an hour from you.
I do freelance writing and have a home business/christian
ministry Cards With a Mission which was featured in the
Cedar Rapids Gazette supplement Neighbors in June '98.
This morning I was doing some homework for my class through
the ISED on starting a small business and browing the web
under christian writers.

I had just submitted a query for Melody of the Heart and
was on JoAnn Reno Wray's site epistleworks when I ran
across a link about writing contests where I met you! It's
great having an accomplished writer like you in this neck
of the woods. Welcome to Iowa!

I see that you homeschool. I homeschooled my three children
for several years before we quit farming. I loved it! Most
of my children are grown now, except for my son who is 11
and attending Starmont Elementary.

Maybe we can get together sometime. I'd like to get to know
you and to share with you what the Lord is doing with my
ministry Cards With a Mission. The story will appear in the
spring issue of Obadiah magazine. I've also been
interviewed on KNWS radio.

Hoping to hear from you soon, Kimn.

In Him,
Mary Jane Keppler
